A hapless monkey escaped from a zoo then got into a prison.
CCTV footage shows the ape sprinting towards the penitentiary entrance.
Subsequent footage filmed on the inside shows the primate roaming around the jail yard after managing to get in.

Inspectors at the Evaristo de Moraes Prison, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, spotted the black-tailed animal on Thursday (18 Apr) morning.
Officials from the State Prison Department (SEAP) were alerted and quickly caught the friendly intruder.
It was later discovered that the cheeky monkey had escaped from the nearby Rio BioPark zoo.
SEAP notified zoo staff about the unusual arrest and they came to the prison to fetch the fugitive primate.
It’s reportedly doing well after its adventure, as reported on What’s The Jam.

The Rio BioPark hit the headlines in December 2021, when six of the 18 giraffes imported the previous month managed to escape.
All were recaptured, but three of them died just hours later.
Vets ruled that their cause of death was myopathy, a neuromuscular disorder that causes muscle damage.

The condition is occasionally triggered by stress.
