A Moo Deng superfan has travelled 3,000 miles to donate money to his favourite pygmy hippo.
The Dubai businessman, who has not been named and is only referred to as $HIPPO, has given an estimated £115,500 to the zoo where the animal lives.
The kind gesture took place last week (6 October), with a cheque handed to the team at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand, including the animal’s keeper Atthapon ‘Benz’ Nundee.

But this actually isn’t the first time Moo Deng – whose name translates to Bouncy Pig – has been gifted cash for being so adorable.
According to the director of zoological organisation, Atthaporn Sriharan, a crypto investor has already donated around £830 under the name ‘Moodeng on ETH’.
The hippo is a star attraction, with customers queuing up to see her in person.
Others, like British baker Ben Cullen, who is originally from Birmingham but currently based in Chester, use her as inspiration.
He created a cake version of the hippo and shared it with his 452,000 Instagram followers, as reported by What’s The Jam.

In the clip, which has gathered 2.5 million views so far, a chocolate-covered sponge Moo Deng can be seen lying flat on a bed of biscuit crumbs.
Ben then uses a knife to slice straight into it and pulls out a perfect slice.
El Jay said: “Don’t think I can eat the great Moo Deng.”

Matt commented: “Too cool, but too painful to watch it get chopped up.”
Spencer added: “NOOOO I could never hurt precious Moo Deng.”
Jack noted: “Actually looks delicious.”
Someone else posted: “This looks more Moo Deng than Moo Deng herself.”
But Moo Deng might need to watch out, there’s a new contender for cutest pygmy hippo who might steal the spotlight – and future donations.
Lololi at Taronga Zoo in Sydney was born to 13-year-old mom Kambiri, weighing just 8.8lbs.
The adorable hippo – who is now nine months old and whose name translates to “there is always love” in West Africa – has since grown to a chunky 143.3 lbs.
And she’s become a social media star online.
Will Lololi’s fame surpass that of the great Moo Deng? Only time will tell.
