A holidaymaker was left stunned after she stumbled across a huge shark on a remote beach.
Joy Peacock discovered the nine-foot-long creature still alive on the sand.
Despite rescue attempts, it sadly died later.

Joy didn’t know what type it was at first, but experts later confirmed it was a blue shark – a species rarely seen off Scotland.
It was discovered at St Ninian’s in Shetland.
Blue sharks are more common in waters around Cornwall and usually live in the open ocean, preferring temperate and tropical waters worldwide.
“I was very sad to find it like that,” Joy, from East Yorkshire, told What’s The Jam.
“Apparently, it’s a blue shark.

“I couldn’t identify it at the time.
“It wasn’t really what I expected to see.”
A spokesperson for Shetland Wildlife said attempts had been made to save the shark.

They said: “Saddened to witness this stranded blue shark at St. Ninian’s.
“An attempt to refloat it failed.
“The current status of this species in Shetland waters is unclear and poorly known.
“It is certainly the first we have ever seen here.
“An incredible creature.”
