An underground spa is offering a bizarre experience with guests able to bathe in beer, wine or milk.

There’s a straw bed, too, in case you need a kip afterwards.

The unusual experience, dubbed Beernarium Piwne Spa, is located in “an extremely historic place” – the vaulted basement of the 14th century Kmitów Palace in Krakow, Poland.

According to the founders, each bath has its own special properties and benefits.

Bathing of this kind is “recommended for stressed people” – so it’s perfect for tense Londoners in particular.

The beer bath is made by dissolving natural beer rich in hops, malt and yeast with beer bath oil and water.

Before you ask, no – you can’t drink the contents.

But you can pay extra to have your own beer tap – conveniently located next to the wooden tub, so you can pour yourself a cold one while lounging in the foam.

The founders claim the beer bath moisturises the skin, smoothes wrinkles and has “bactericidal properties”.

And, thanks to beer being rich in biotin, it may also improve the condition of your hair and nails, as reported by What’s The Jam.

The practice of these types of baths isn’t actually new – it dates back thousands of years, with Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, reportedly using wine to wash her face.

The wine bath consists of using wine extraction in the form of bath foam, which is dissolved in water – and the spa claims it “increases life energy” as well as removes toxins from the body and strengthens the heart, among other benefits.

As for the milk bath, it’s chock-full of B vitamin, protein and calcium and has a “rejuvenating” effect – or so it’s claimed.

There are a variety of prices / packages to choose from around £40.
