The woman was utterly perplexed but clarified that she didn’t have ‘the ick.’
They say age is just a number, yet sometimes the generational gap is too wide to overlook. Differences in movie preferences, favorite foods, and homeownership experiences are just a few examples that come to mind.
TikTok user Elizabeth Castaldi recently highlighted another generational difference: texting styles.

At 27, Elizabeth took to social media to share a perplexing exchange with a 35-year-old man she had recently dated.
One might assume that at 35, he wouldn’t be resorting to outdated text speak. Thankfully, he wasn’t, but his messaging still left Elizabeth scratching her head.
In a TikTok clip, Elizabeth showed a screenshot of the message she received the morning after their date.
The caption read, “I have to start dating people my own age (but I won’t).” She further pondered in the video, “Is he a bad texter or is he 35?”
The message from her date was straightforward: “Hey, had fun last night. Have a good day.” Elizabeth’s bewilderment was clear as she mimed along to, ‘let’s go? I guess?’ Many viewers were puzzled by her reaction.
“I’m confused how this is bad?” one person commented. Another added, “I realized I was old when I didn’t see an issue.”
The message itself wasn’t problematic, but Elizabeth was uncertain if the guy wanted to see her again. “Let’s be clear, I do not have the ick. I just can’t read him and I really, really want to go on a second date,” she clarified in a comment under her video.
In response to viewers’ advice, Elizabeth messaged back, “Me too! Hope your day is going well.” However, as the conversation progressed, she felt increasingly that the man wasn’t interested. When she tried to set up another date, he responded that he was ‘a little crazy with work’ and suggested they ‘play it by ear.’
Elizabeth decided to let him take the initiative if he wanted to meet again. Many viewers advised her to move on and find someone more enthusiastic.
