A thrifty Brit has proven that you can make a delicious meal for two for just £1.89 – even while shopping at M&S.
Elliot Jeory has gone viral revealing how he made the slap-up dish of chicken and sweet potato chips for the bargain price, in a TikTok which garnered 73,000 views.
The 39-year-old, who is known for his budget-friendly meal inspiration, explained that you can buy three chicken legs from M&S’s value range for just £1.50.

For an additional 25p, you can also get yourself an onion and, for another 64p, two loose sweet potatoes.
Sharing the low-cost recipe with What’s The Jam, Elliot said he seasoned the chicken legs and cooked them for around 10 minutes in the air fryer, before turning and cooking them for another five.
After that, it was simply a case of cutting the sweet potatoes to the preferred shape – whether that’s wedges, chips or cubes.
He then seasoned and cooked the sweet potato in the air fryer for 12 minutes.
Elliot then cut up the onion, again seasoning it to taste, and added it to the air fryer for six minutes.

While the thrifty chef, from Preston, Lancashire, admitted that the meal could have done with a little veg and that he had added some sweetcorn, he proved that you can still eat M&S food on a budget, despite the cost of living crisis.
The cheap meal went down a storm on TikTok, where it has over 900 likes and plenty of comments.
One person said: “Too many people say you can’t eat healthily on a budget. You’ve proved that you can eat very well for very little money.”

Someone else said: “This is such a good meal no need to spend lots of money.”
Jemma agreed: “Bargain.”
Elliot has made headlines in the past for his bargaining ways, including making a Valentines day meal for just £3, and a roast dinner for under £6.
He said: “People turn their nose up at cheap food, but they miss the point of my account – for some people, it’s all they can afford.
“Some are not very nutritious, but they’re a quick fix, as not everyone has the time or skills to cook from scratch.”
