A man has been left stunned after splashing a whopping £58 on snacks at what he branded “one of the most expensive supermarkets inside an airport”.
Carmie Sellitto shared the eye-watering shop in a viral TikTok that’s racked up more than 262,000 views.
In the clip, the London-based influencer heads into WHSmith at Gatwick Airport to grab food for an 18-hour flight.

But as he browses the shelves, he’s left gobsmacked by the prices, spotting dried mango for £6 and a bag of Haribo Tangfastics going for £5.
He also checks out the drinks aisle, picking up a 3-for-2 deal on bottled water before heading off to find chocolate and popcorn.
Already fearing the worst, Carmie says: “I just know this is gonna cost like £100.”
After leaving the shop, he reveals the total – and it’s not far off.
His haul included mango pieces, sweet chilli crackers, a nut and raisin mix, a Mega Push Pop, a Fry’s Chocolate Cream, mints, a Reese’s white peanut butter cup, Galaxy Minstrels, three bottles of water, Rennies, Cheez-Its, SnackaJacks, popcorn, vitamin water and a Cadbury Nutty Praline Crisp.
The final bill came to a jaw-dropping £58, as reported by Whats The Jam.
The clip has since sparked a heated debate online, with viewers split over whether airport prices have gone too far.
One user said: “For junk food? No not worth it, you’ve been scammed.”
Another person wrote: “airports used to be cheap. Now all they see is [money emoji].”
One viewer added: “Nooo way! Get your snacks outside!”
One person commented: “I remember when DUTY FREE was cheaper than normal shops ..THAT WAS THE POINT!!!”
Another person said: “£6 for dried mango!!! fresh would have been cheaper.”
But others weren’t so shocked.
One viewer said: “the dried fruit and nuts were clearly overpriced but all in all it was reasonable by today’s standards (which are awful)”
Another person added: “Not bad I suppose.”
