An influencer says she has divorced herself after getting fed up of her own company.
Suellen Carey has hit headlines in the past for opening up about her dating struggles.
Last year, she decided to wed herself in a ceremony held in London, which she shared with her 400,000 Instagram followers.
But after just 12 months of sologamy, the 36-year-old has now announced her divorce.
“After undergoing couples therapy with myself, I realised that self-analysis and reflection is essential,” Suellen, who is originally from Brazil but now lives in London, told What’s The Jam.
“It’s crucial to know when to end a cycle.
“Even commitment to oneself can have its challenges, such as dealing with the expectation of being perfect for yourself all the time.
“I realised I was putting a lot of pressure on myself and that sometimes left me exhausted.
“I understood that even in a marriage with ourselves, it’s important to accept our imperfections.”
Suellen also said that the experience left her feeling lonely at times.
The trans influencer said: “[The experience] has made me realise the importance of connecting with others.
“The balance between self-love and social interaction is essential.”
She did her best to keep the relationship going – even claiming to have attended 10 sessions with therapist Eduardo Omeltech – but in the end, she opted for the divorce.
Eduardo said: “Suellen underwent an intense journey of self-knowledge and acceptance.
“Her decision to ‘divorce’ herself and seek a partner reflects her desire to connect more deeply with others.
“The therapy helped her understand that self-love is the foundation for any relationship but that sharing life with someone else can also be a rewarding experience.”
Now, the influencer is ready to dive back into the dating pool.
She added: “It was an enriching experience but I feel ready to move on.
“I realised that my sologamous marriage was a process of healing and self-discovery.
“But I also understood that personal growth can lead us in different directions.
“I’ve decided that now is the time to open my heart to new possibilities, including the chance to find a partner.”
