An aesthetician has revealed that men are increasingly turning to salmon-derived serums to “slow down the ageing process” – by opting for injectable treatments containing fish sperm.

Dr Patrick Robson – also known as Dr Pat – has seen a growing number of people trying this method, particularly after Kim Kardashian shared her experience with the procedure on The Kardashians.

The treatment involves injecting salmon DNA, sourced from sperm, into areas of the face such as under the eyes.

While the idea might sound unusual, Dr Pat says the results speak for themselves.

Clients report fewer wrinkles and fine lines, more radiant skin and an overall youthful appearance following the treatment.

The key lies in the salmon DNA’s ability to stimulate collagen production.

“The potential is there to slow down the ageing process of the skin,” said Dr Pat, who practices at King Street Grooming in central Manchester.

“We can’t stop the natural ageing process but we can certainly delay it by enhancing skin vitality with treatments like this.

“By our 30s, collagen production starts to decline, and this procedure helps to stimulate the skin’s cells to produce more collagen.

“People often feel they look younger as a result.”

Since joining King Street Grooming two years ago, the 51-year-old doctor has witnessed a surge in men embracing skincare and aesthetics.

He said: “It’s traditionally been a challenge to get men interested in treatments like this but that’s changed recently.

“Seeing men on TikTok, Instagram and reality TV taking care of their skin has helped destigmatize male grooming.

“Now, over half of our clientele are men – an unusual statistic in the aesthetics industry.”

One client, 27-year-old Tommy Davison, a director of a large-scale restaurant in Manchester, recently completed three treatments with Dr Pat.

Tommy, who had his last session in mid-August, said:, “I work long hours and start early, which affects my sleep and my skin.

“I had noticed my skin looking tired and dehydrated, and when I first heard about Vitaran Polynucleotides, I was sceptical, especially since I had tried other skin boosters before.

“But after researching the treatment and watching videos on Instagram and YouTube, I decided to give it a shot.

After visiting Dr Pat, my skin feels more hydrated, and I’ve received countless compliments on my appearance.

“The treatment has given me a healthy glow and the most noticeable improvement is under my eyes, where I used to have dark circles from lack of sleep.

“The area is now much brighter and I look refreshed.”

Dr Pat has been a dentist for nearly 30 years and specialises in non-surgical aesthetic treatments.

He explains that the procedure works by injecting purified and sterilised polynucleotides from salmon or trout sperm into the skin.

The doctor said: “These polynucleotides stimulate fibroblast cells to promote collagen production, increase skin cell turnover, and enhance skin elasticity.

“This helps treat lines and wrinkles, improve skin hydration and even address acne and scarring.

“The treatment also reduces hyperpigmentation, redness and rosacea by affecting melanocytes in the skin, leading to a more even skin tone.”

While the facial treatment is the most popular, these products can be used on any area of the skin.

The procedure itself is described as “very comfortable” and lasts between 9 to 12 months, with a minor top-up required to maintain results.

The initial effects are often visible within a few days.

Dr Pat acknowledges that the fish sperm component grabs attention but he assures clients that it’s simply an effective way to introduce high-quality DNA in a large volume.

Despite the unusual ingredient, most clients are undeterred once the science is explained.

Tommy agreed, adding: “It doesn’t bother me at all.

“Nowadays, people are looking for more organic and safer options.

“Years ago, everyone was obsessed with heavy fillers that didn’t age well.

“Knowing this treatment uses organic material brings peace of mind.”
