A singer proposed to a pop star onstage during a duet before apparently being brushed off.
Mexican actor and singer Yurem Rojas, 34, dropped to one knee to pop the question while performing a duet with Tay Rodzel.
In a video shared by Tay, real name Taide Rodríguez, the pair are seen performing onstage in gold-coloured outfits.

Yurem opens a ring box as Tay, 35, continues singing.
He apparently drops the ring on the floor as the singer doubles over in laughter.
Without missing a beat, she takes the ring from Yurem and holds it aloft to the crowd.
Yurem gets to his feet and starts singing, but apparently without being given an answer.
He reaches out his hand to make contact with Tay as she croons to the crowd.

They apparently avoid eye contact for a moment before Tay turns to him during the song’s climax and places her hands on his shoulders.
The awkward moment was filmed during a ‘2000’s X Siempre’ concert featuring multiple Mexican artists.
Tay, who comes from Guadalajara, shared the clip on her TikTok page on 7 January.

The video went viral with 3.6M views and thousands of comments, as reported by What’s The Jam.
She said: “Yurem proposed to me during the show.
“I couldn’t sing because I was laughing.
“I got so nervous, I didn’t expect it.
“You don’t know how difficult it is to control a fit of laughter while singing!”
One fan commented: “If you don’t want him as a husband, don’t waste his time.”
Another wrote: “What a shame she doesn’t know how to appreciate the great man Yurem is.”
Jacky said: “Tell me it’s a joke. If this was real, it would hit poor Yurem hard.”

So far, Yurem and Tay have remained tight-lipped about whether the marriage proposal was real.
It’s also unknown whether the actor, who is known for his comedy routines, and Tay are in a romantic relationship.
The pair performed together on tour across Mexico for most of 2024.
