A golden retriever has given birth to a rare lime green puppy.
The now six-week-old dog has been given the name Shamrock thanks to her ‘lucky’ shade of green.
Likely caused by the bile in her mother’s womb, the colour dyed her coat.
Her owners, Greg and Carole DeBruler, from Pensacola, Florida, said they tried to “rub” the colour off at first.

They were left shocked when they realised Shamrock remained green.
“While it is not uncommon for light coloured pups to have some green on them when born, Shamrock was deep, dark green,” Carole told What’s The Jam.
“My hubby and I have been raising puppies for almost 17 years now and we have never seen something quite like that!
“From our research, we believed that she was stained from contact with biliverdin in the womb.

“It is rare for this deep of staining to happen.
“She is a cutie!”
The couple, who raise dogs at Golden Treasures Kennel, posted a video of Shamrock to TikTok – where it has gathered over 8.1m likes.

The pup was originally born on 3 March.
In the clip, the Golden Retriever mum can be seen feeding her babies, all in golden and pale colours.
Amongst the mix is Shamrock, who has a bright green tinge to her fur.
It has since gathered over 694,000 likes, as well as over 2,000 comments from fans.

Shamrock’s fur has since faded, and now spends her days having fun in the sun with her siblings.
