Zoe C., a discerning consumer, was deeply dismayed when her Too Good To Go order from Morrisons purportedly contained “mouldy” food.

The conscientious shopper, who opted to remain anonymous, utilized the discounted food shop app to procure a bag from Morrisons in Mansfield Woodhouse on April 6th.

Known for its collaboration with supermarkets and eateries to redistribute surplus food at affordable rates, Too Good To Go aims to combat food waste.

Despite spending £3.09 on the surprise bag, in addition to £20 during her regular Morrisons grocery run, Zoe was disappointed upon inspecting the bag’s contents upon her return home.

According to Zoe, the contents of the bag were far from satisfactory.

She alleges that she discovered a “mushed” lettuce with chocolate remnants adhering to its base, alongside “hard” bread past its expiration date, indicated by a best-before sticker marked April 2nd.

Moreover, she asserts that the bag included hot cross buns expired by five days, tainted with “mould spores,” and a packet of lemons, one of which was “squashed and mouldy.”

Expressing her frustration, Zoe stated to What’s The Jam, “90% of this bag was completely unusable and was thrown away.”

Zoe expressed her disappointment further, stating, “The only thing I could salvage was the dill and mint in the packets which my rabbits had.”

She admitted that the experience has deterred her from both obtaining a Too Good To Go bag from Morrisons and patronizing the store altogether. Reflecting on the contents, she remarked, “I was shocked at what was in the bag,” emphasizing the deplorable condition rather than any specific item.

Describing the state of the lettuce, she lamented, “The lettuce was thrown in and broken up in the bottom of the bag, soggy and had a random piece of chocolate stuck on it.”

As for the bread, she noted its expiry on April 2nd and its unsatisfactory state, declaring it “rock hard and squashed.”

Zoe continued her account, revealing, “The hot cross buns had the 1st April on them and had mould spores starting to show.” She also noted the condition of the lemons, stating, “One of the lemons was squashy and mouldy.”

Despite her dissatisfaction, Zoe mentioned that she reached out to Too Good To Go regarding the issue but has yet to receive a response.

Sharing her experience online, she posted a photo of her disappointing food haul, sparking shock among other users of Too Good To Go.

Fama Momom expressed dismay, commenting, “That is terrible. Gosh what nasty people in this world and to think it’s ok to give away mouldy food.”

Similarly, Tammy Adams expressed frustration, stating, “That really is rubbish.”

Similarly, Sian Wyn Greenwood shared her own disappointment, stating, “I’ve never had a good one from Morrisons.”

Jam Press has contacted Morrisons and Too Good To Go for comment.
