If you’re on the hunt for an Easter egg with a twist this year, you can now get your hands on an egg made of sushi.

Yes, Easter eggs made with raw fish are now a thing – and they look absolutely delicious.

The ‘sushi’ eggs come in five different varieties that are all made from salmon.

The first raw option consists of a delicious-sounding cubed, tropical salmon with crispy rice skin, cream cheese, chives, mango, avocado, and a little ginger.

Or you could enjoy cubed, raw wakame salmon with crispy rice skin, cream cheese, chives, and wakame seaweed.

The simplest option is cubed, raw salmon with a crispy rice skin, cream cheese, and chives.

But if you prefer your salmon cooked, there’s a grilled salmon with crispy rice skin, cream cheese, and chives Easter egg.

There’s also braised, cubed salmon with crispy rice skin, cream cheese, and chives.

Each 500-gram egg is served with soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, a crunchy add-on of Doritos or crispy onions, plus ginger and wasabi.

The sushi eggs will set food fans back £29.92 (€35), but they are large enough to feed two people, What’s The Jam reports.

As the eggs naturally take some time to make, they need to be ordered in advance.

It’s also recommended that the eggs are eaten straight away because they are served on a fried eggshell.

They are the brainchild of Brazilian entrepreneur Karen Schneider, 33, who explained that she previously worked in aesthetics but pivoted to a food-based career during the pandemic.

Ahead of Easter, she decided to make something “different” – saying “Special dates deserve equally special products”.

So, where can you get your hands on these sushi Easter eggs? Well, you’ll have to head to Algés, Portugal, where you can enjoy them at Temacrock sushi restaurant, or order them to go.

But if you want to enjoy another eye-popping Easter creation, you could also get your hands on the UK’s most expensive Easter egg.

It costs a whopping £375, but you are getting a lot of chocolate for the price as the egg weighs 5.4kg and is 55cm high.

The 31,104-calorie creation is made from “Grand Cru Swiss chocolate” and can be purchased from Betty’s Cafe Tea Rooms in upmarket Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
