It’s the time of year when every high-street chain claims to have cracked the ultimate Christmas sandwich.
Now Subway has thrown itself into the debate, with a festive menu starring a brand-new Gravy Mayo.
Customers can have it drizzled inside their sub, or served in its own Dunk Pot on the side for dipping.

Leading the line-up is the Ultimate Festive Sub, packed with rotisserie-style chicken, streaky bacon, melted American-style cheese, sage and onion stuffing mix and cranberry sauce, as reported by What’s The Jam.
It comes on a limited-edition Sage & Onion stuffing-topped bread, baked fresh in store daily with a crunchy crust of sage and onion breadcrumbs.
The festive range lands in restaurants across the UK and Republic of Ireland on Wednesday 4 November, and runs until Tuesday 5 January 2027.
Following the success of its jacket potato offering, the chain is also launching an Ultimate Festive Spud, loading the same Christmas fillings on top of a fluffy jacket potato.
The festive fillings are available as a Wrap or Salad too.

And for those with a sweet tooth, there are two new limited-edition cookies.
The Chocolate Hazelnut Cookie combines crunchy hazelnut and salted caramel pieces with milk chocolate and white candy chips.
Meanwhile, the Chocolate Filled Cookie is made with cocoa dough packed with milk, white and dark chocolate chips, and has a melted chocolate sauce centre.

Cathy Goodwin, Director of Culinary & Innovation at Subway EMEA, said: “Everyone has a strong opinion on what belongs in an iconic Christmas sandwich, and at Subway we think the best festive sarnie is the one where you get your own way.
“So, we’ve given you the lot: rotisserie-style chicken, streaky bacon, cranberry sauce and sage & onion stuffing, all on our new stuffing topped bread, baked fresh in store daily, and a brand-new creamy Gravy Mayo.
“Drizzle it or dunk your Ultimate Festive Sub straight into it! Then finish with our new Chocolate Hazelnut and melt-in-the-middle Chocolate Filled cookies.”
Collectors will also want to get in quick.
From Wednesday 18 November, Subway is releasing a set of limited-edition plushies, available only with the Footlong Ultimate Festive Sub Meal Deal.
First up is ‘FootLongy’, the first of five characters, with a new one dropping every Wednesday.
Stock is limited to 20 plushies per restaurant each week, and customers can’t choose which character they get.
Subway Rewards members will also get a new offer each week for four weeks, from Monday 30 November until Sunday 27 December.
The festive menu can be ordered in store, via the Subway app for collection, or through Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo.
