A woman has divided the internet after eating an out-of-date chicken wrap – admitting that she doesn’t ‘pay attention’ to use-by dates.

In the divisive video, the TikTokker known as @carbootisfull can be seen opening a sweet chilli chicken wrap that she kept in the fridge after purchase.

She explains that while the wrap, which was bought for a reduced price, is now several days out of date because it smells and looks OK, she has no qualms about eating it.

In the clip, she says: “I bought this reduced wrap two days ago for £1.26, I kept it in the fridge and I’m getting around to eating it today.

“It smells OK, tastes OK, so I think it’s fine.”

Sharing her controversial meal on TikTok, she asked in the video caption: “Would you eat out-of-date food?”

This went on to spark a heated debate about whether or not people are putting themselves in danger by eating out-of-date food, especially when it comes to meat.

One viewer wrote: “You should throw it away 2 days before the use. Never okay on the day and afterward is just criminality.”

Another person added: “With meat – never. With anything else, as long as it smelled and looked okay then sure.”

Someone else asked: “Is that not dangerous?”

Another viewer said: “I was violently ill on a cooked reduced chicken I bought once – now I won’t go near any reduced food.”

Someone else commented: “Yeah but you might get e-coli and that will kill you.”

But while some people certainly don’t think eating out-of-date food is worth the risk of getting sick, others, like the TikTokker, think it’s perfectly fine.

One person wrote: “it’s fine it only says use by so won’t kill ya.”

Another viewer added: “If it smells ok it’ll be fine.”

Someone else said: “Go for it. Things don’t turn green at midnight.”

“I would say I don’t pay as much attention to [use-by] dates as much as I would with the filler food,” the TikTokker told What’s The Jam.

“A really good example is milk and eggs.

“Milk, you can tell it’s going off by the look or the smell, and with eggs, there’s the float test [which is when a bad egg fails to float in water].

“I’m passionate about helping people save money.

“We’re already so busy in our day-to-day lives, but we’re not educated [enough] in school about budgeting, money, and finances.

“People are more interested in it now because they’re feeling the pinch.

“I thought more people would be against [eating out-of-date food], but I was surprised to see that some people do have their thoughts and are for it.”
