Just when you thought you’d seen it all, the cost of living crisis has struck once again – as a London restaurant sells scrambled eggs and toast for an unbelievable £58 a serving.
As if that wasn’t already horrifying enough, you can wash it down with a glass of orange juice that will set you back an additional £9.
The meal is served at Hide restaurant in Mayfair.
While this restaurant is at admittedly Michelin-star, diners have had a mixed reaction to the pricey offering.

The breakfast dish first made waves on social media when it cost £32 in 2023.
But diners will now have to fork out even more for the truffled scrambled eggs and toast, which now cost a minimum of £36 a serving.
A price that rises to £58 if they opt for white truffle.

One customer described the dish as “basic”.

Another person wrote: “Simply adding truffle to bread doesn’t automatically elevate one to the status of a chef.
“The pricing was exceptionally high without any apparent justification.”

Another reviewer said the meal was “tasteless” and she “couldn’t even smell [the truffle].”

She added: “No amount of shaved truffles can make up for the fact that this toast is £32 each.”
While the price has floored some diners, others have been left impressed by the breakfast dish.
One visitor said it was a “must-try”.
Another person agreed, saying: “Food on the pricey side, but you pay for the experience.”
