McDonald’s fans are rushing to try a little-known receipt trick that could land them a full meal for just £2.99.

The savvy hack, shared by a mum on social media, reveals how one simple step after ordering can unlock a heavily discounted second meal.

It all comes down to something most customers chuck away – their receipt – which could actually be the key to big savings.

And once you know where to look, it’s a quick and easy way to slash the cost of your next visit.

All you need to do is buy any meal first, then use the code printed on the receipt to access a follow-up deal, as reported by Whats The Jam.

Customers are prompted to complete a short online survey using the code and once finished, they’re sent a voucher to use in-store.

Scan it at the till and you can bag a Big Mac and fries for just £2.99.

The tip was shared by Gemma Bird, known online as Money Mum.

The trick has quickly taken off online, with loads of people saying they had no clue the deal even existed.

One user said: “I never knew this. I’ll be keeping the receipt next time we go. Thank you x”

Another user added: “I can’t believe I never knew this!!”

A third person wrote: “This is amazing”

One person said: “I literally went round all the machines the other day and got all the receipts and did this.”

But one user pointed out a snag, saying: “Never any receipt paper in the machines haha”

The hack works as part of McDonald’s ongoing customer feedback scheme, where receipts often come with survey codes that unlock cut-price meals once completed.
