A woman, who claims she saw an alien 28 years ago, is sticking to her story despite being mocked and ridiculed.
Liliane de Fátima Silva was one of three girls who said they caught sight of an extra-terrestrial on 20 January 1996.
Their alleged sighting sparked interest across her homeland.
On the sighting’s 28th anniversary, a statue of the alien’s likeness was unveiled.

It was on display at the first UFO Fair, in Varginha, northwest of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she lives.

Liliane, now 44, told local media: “It’s the closest image of the creature.
“Recalling it always sends a shiver down my spine, cold hands, that sweaty feeling.
“But it’s just part of life.”

Liliane, just 16 at the time, says she saw the extra-terrestrial with her sister Valquíria Aparecida Silva and their pal Kátia Andrade Xavier.
On the day in question, the girls were taking a shortcut across a plot of land instead of their usual route.
When they passed close to a wall, the siblings heard Kátia scream.

When they looked towards her, they saw a creature crouching on the ground.
It turned its head towards them and stared at them for a few seconds before they ran away in terror.
Liliane recalled: “When I looked, I saw a brown creature, it looked like oil had been applied to its body, but as it was very hot, I thought it was sweat.
“I saw two red eyes and three bumps on the head. I didn’t see a mouth or ears. If it had a mouth, it was just a small slit.”
The sisters returned to the scene with their mum about 25 minutes later.
But all they found was a mark on the ground, a strange smell, and a dog sniffing the area.
A builder working nearby told them that officials had turned up on the scene and taken “that strange animal.”
But the institutions that supposedly received the alien have remained tight-lipped about the case to this day.
And Liliane claims that shortly after the sighting, three men went to her home and said they’d give her family “a lot of money” if she publicly denied what she’d seen.
But they refused the bribe, she said.
Now, nearly three decades on, the three women are sticking to their story, despite being mocked and ridiculed.
Supposed footage of the alien in question was shown at a meeting of ufologists in São Paulo on 19 January.
Local media say they’ve not been able to authenticate the spine-chilling clip or say for certain who filmed it.
Mari tweeted: “So, I’m waiting for confirmation whether it’s fake or not.
“But it aligns perfectly with the description of the three girls who saw it.”
Liliane told local media: “The case still resonates strongly. It hasn’t been easy for us, it’s never easy to revisit those memories.
“But I’m glad the city is bustling, people are searching and enjoying it.
“There are those who believe, those who mock, those who doubt, but there are those who love the story.”
