A first edition of ‘For Your Eyes Only’ – signed by legendary author Ian Fleming – has gone on sale for £8,000.
The hardback, published by Jonathan Cape in 1960, still has its original dust jacket.
What makes it even rarer is Fleming’s autograph in blue ink on an inside page.

It is unknown who it was signed for or when.
Signed copies of For Your Eyes Only are exceptionally rare and valuable.
They are regarded as highly valued collector’s items.

‘For Your Eyes Only’ is a collection of James Bond short stories, as reported by What’s The Jam.
The title story of the collection lent its name to the twelfth James Bond film, which was released in 1981 and was the fifth film to star Roger Moore as the suave and sophisticated British Secret Service agent.

The film was adapted from both ‘For Your Eyes Only’ and ‘Risico’ from the collection, as well as part of the novel ‘Live and Let Die’.
Other stories from this collection also provided source material for later Bond films.

The title of the collection is derived from a piece of jargon often used in government circles with regard to classified information.
