A plus-sized influencer has shared how she stays positive despite vicious trolling – which sees people call her “lazy” and “a pig”.
Hannah Ogilvie-Young posts content to challenge the perception that muscular or thin are the ideal healthy states – but it has left her exposed to cruel comments from viewers online.
But the 33-year-old isn’t letting it get her down – and won’t be shamed from posting herself on social media.

“Some people feel very entitled to abuse fat people for existing,” Hannah, from Sheffield, told What’s The Jam.
“I pondered whether I was slimmer, would that post have received as much negativity as I did at my size? I think definitely no.
“I [got] this barrage of abuse because people see me and think I have to ‘better myself’ and they see bettering oneself as ‘losing weight’, regardless of the means to get there.
“There is this wrong belief that just because you post on social media, you have to accept all the negativity that comes with it.
“When I look in the mirror, I feel incredibly proud.

“I know my journey – I have felt every bump of it.
“I know how long and hard the journey was to get to a place of peace with my body, and I deserve to feel that peace.”
Hannah went viral sharing a video detailing things that would horrify “skinny” fanatics.

In the clip, she said: “I eat foods based on whether I want them – I haven’t looked at a nutritional label in years!
“I love to get tattoos to adorn my body as it is now.
“I got married in a body I had no desire to change.”
One person commented on the popular post: “You are so refreshing and delightful.”
Another wrote: “This is the coolest thing. I’m the exact same way and I love seeing another plus-size woman doing the same thing. It took so much work to get there and here we are. It’s so freeing and amazing. I love it and I love seeing more of it.”
Another user said: “And this is exactly how we should all think about our bodies! Love who we are not what social media wants us to be.”
But one troll insisted: “Deep down you aren’t happy. You are shortening your life.”
Another added: “Just admit you’re lazy to change it, there’s not a single normal person that believes it’s healthy or attractive to be obese.”
Hannah clapped back at the last comment, saying: “I am literally married. But go off.”
Meanwhile, someone else cruelly sent her a pig emoji.
While she doesn’t let trolling affect her these days, it hasn’t been a straightforward journey to self-acceptance for Hannah.
She previously struggled with binge eating disorder and had a poor body image until she went to a therapist, which led to her focusing on recovery during 2022.
After discovering “a new appreciation” for her “life and body”, she began posting on her account, which now boasts 30,000 followers.
Hannah said: “I love the way I look – I love that my body exists as a vessel to move through the world and appreciate life, socialise with my friends, travel, try new experiences, build community.
“I couldn’t do any of these things without my body so I appreciate it so much.”
