The Wicked Witch of the West’s hat from the original Wizard of Oz movie has sold for £430,353.
It was worn by actress Margaret Hamilton in the classic 1939 film.
The black witch’s hat was the highest-selling item from the movie that went under the hammer.

The listing read: “The hat shows expected age and production wear, including three areas of old adhesive residue on the underside of the brim.
“The hat has undergone recent, sensitive professional conservation to tighten the brim to the cone.”
The second most expensive was a pair of Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers.
They were bought for £102,910 in the Hollywood Entertainment Signature Auction, as reported on What’s The Jam.

The shoes were “crafted in leather with a full red sequin overlay.”

They are described as being in “very fine condition.”
They were one of 25 pairs made to mark Judy Garland’s role in the film.
A blue and white Gingham Dress and Cream Blouse worn by Garland fetched £65,488.

A Scarecrow Groomer Hat was bought for £51,455.
A red Rehearsal Slipper worn by the Dorothy actress sold for £46,777.
A Pair of Cast Signed Boots – autographed by the cast, including Garland, Hamilton, plus others, went for £35,550.
The Heritage Auction took place in Dallas, Texas, US, on Tuesday (9 Dec).
