A Star Wars superfan has made the heartbreaking decision to tear down his Jedi wallpaper from his childhood bedroom during a renovation.

Ozzy Mark called it a “very sad day”.

He is refurbishing his family home, and the painful decision was taken to renovate his old bedroom.

The 57-year-old said, “It broke my heart.”

Ozzy, who lives in Melbourne, Australia, said his parents put the wallpaper up in 1979, two years after the groundbreaking sci-fi film hit the cinema.

At the time, Ozzy was a 12-year-old lad with dreams of becoming an astronaut.

He told What’s The Jam: “My mum and dad put it up in 1979, so it broke my heart to pull it down.

“But I’m going to keep a nice piece of the wallpaper to put in a frame.”

The musician added: “I’ll keep it in my recording studio for purely nostalgic reasons.”

Ozzy credits Star Wars for helping to spark his creativity as a teen.

He said, “I’m a huge Star Wars fan.

“When the film came out, it was like nothing I’d ever seen on TV or at the movies.

“It was so exciting and futuristic, it totally sparked my imagination and passion for science and the stars.

“I would say also creativity.”

“I wanted to be an astronaut so badly, unfortunately, my maths results later in life never allowed me to become a pilot.

“Fair to say, I’m a lifelong fan of the franchise and always will be.”

Ozzy shared a video of the sad moment on Facebook.

One local said, “That’s a crime against the rebellion, at least keep one wall as a feature wall?”

Jodie added, “My brother had that wallpaper too, shame you can’t save it.”

Tyler joked: “Have shed a tear, can’t believe this news, so devastating.”

Ozzy, who is the singer and lead guitarist for the rock band The Lizard Kings, has recently moved back to Australia after spending 33 years living in Tenerife and the UK.

He said: “I moved to Tenerife in 1989.

“They were the days, proper boom time.

“And Playa de las Americas was a quarter of the size it is now.

“I moved to the UK in 2007 and spent about 15 years regularly gigging in O’Neill’s in central London.

“I came back to Melbourne three years ago to look after my mum.

“One day, I will return to Tenerife to live out my last days.

“It’s a special place for me.

“It reminds me of Tatooine.”
