A gym-goer was left “disgusted” after appearing to find mould growing inside a sealed pot of protein pudding.
Faye Allan was set to enjoy her daily treat when she spotted what appeared to be a circle of white mould on top of the pudding.
The student had picked up her usual snack as a protein hit to enjoy after a workout, but had been left horrified and swearing off the brand.

“I was so disgusted,” the 19-year-old, from Nottingham, told What’s The Jam.
“I never expected that.

“I came back from the gym and wanted to eat something with high protein, and was told it’s good for you.
“The thing is, the packaging wasn’t even tampered with – it was fully sealed and in date!”
Faye had purchased the Milbona High Protein Chocolate Flavour Pudding from her local Lidl earlier this month, with the best before date reading 20 August – meaning it had more than two weeks before it was due to go off.

She said: “I eat these almost every day and I really like them.
“I’ve tried all the flavours and I love the chocolate ones.
“They’re affordable, and I’m a student, so it doesn’t cost much.

“I haven’t bought one since because what if there is mould inside that I can’t see, and accidentally eat it?
“It’s a health hazard.
“I’m not risking my health for protein.”
A spokesperson for Lidl told Jam Press: “We were very sorry to hear about this matter, as it’s never our intention for a customer to be dissatisfied.
“We work closely with our suppliers to ensure the products we sell meet the highest possible standards, and we’re disappointed if those standards were not met on this occasion.
“We always encourage customers to contact our Customer Care team directly with any concerns, so that we can investigate properly.”
