A unique resort is offering guests the opportunity to share a room with walruses, penguins and polar bears.

The park has built rooms underwater and fitted each of them with a glass screen so visitors can see directly into the animals’ habitat.

Guests can even choose which species they bunk with.

The underwater accommodation can be found in an area of the zoo called The Land of the Cold.

It has been designed in silver, blue and white to fit in with the Arctic theme.

Walrus House offers face-to-face views of the walruses and can fit four adults, one child and one baby.

Penguin House offers a family room which suits two adults, four children and one baby.

It also offers a double room that can be booked out for two adults, one child and one baby.

The Pairi Daiza resort in Brugelette, Belgium, first opened in 1994 and has since grown to become Belgium’s largest private tourist destination.

Each year, the park welcomes over 2.6 million visitors, mainly from Belgium and its neighbouring countries.

In Old Persian, “Pairi-daeza” means “enclosed garden” or “walled orchard”, signifying “paradise”.

The resort offers a mix of an animal park, an open-air museum, and, more recently, a holiday experience among all the animals.

And staff said that the penguins in particular are “adored by children”.

The park also allows guests to book out rooms with incredible views of “the world’s largest carnivore”.

The White Bear House provides the chance to share a room with a polar bear.

Pairi Daiza said, “A blend of power and grace, it has fascinated mankind for centuries.

“Now it’s possible to stay close to the world’s largest carnivore, in a faithfully reconstructed environment.”

And in 2025, the resort added some special Farmhouse Lodges to the mix – a completely renovated abbey farmhouse with all the comforts you need, plus a private terrace.

Staff said the lodge offers guests the opportunity to stay with deer, wallabys, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens “and more”.

The resort has more than 100 rooms with views into animal habitats, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Other suites and lodges overlook bears, wolves, stellar sea lions, Siberian tigers and fallow deer.

The glass that separates resort guests and animals is cleaned weekly to ensure visitors have the clearest view possible.

Each of the rooms starts at £94 and is available 365 days a year.

While committed to offering guests a once-in-a-lifetime experience, Pairi Daiza and its foundation also highlighted the importance of conservation work.

The park is recognised as an Arctic Ambassador by Polar Bears International, a non-profit conservation organisation.

A representative of the park said, “We focus on the quality of our facilities for polar bears, our commitment to fighting climate change, and our efforts to raise awareness about the threats to biodiversity.”
