An influencer has shared the harsh comments she gets because of her huge lips – with people comparing her to Big Mouth or asking if she can fit a whole pizza in her gob.
Shannon Milligan has over 132,000 TikTok followers.
Most of the time, the 23-year-old creator loves her job.

But she admits it comes with tough challenges, such as incessant trolling.
“Such as people asking if I can fit a whole pizza in my mouth, or comparing me to cartoon characters with big lips, like those on Big Mouth,” the content creator told What’s The Jam.

“At first, it was really tough.
“Reading [negative] comments upset me, especially when they crossed the line.
“But over time, I’ve grown a thicker skin by embracing the comments, especially the positive ones.

“At school, I was labelled as the girl with DSLs.

“I had no idea what it meant at first, but then I found out it meant ‘d**k sucking lips’ which left me mortified.
“That comment especially stuck with me.

“I tried my best not to listen, and my friends would say it was a compliment, but I knew it wasn’t.

“People used to tell me I had this smile that could cheer them up on a bad day – and I loved that.
“I’ve been posting content for a few years now and at the beginning, there was pretty much nothing.
“Then I recorded a video and I remember thinking how funny my lips looked.
“Fast forward to hundreds of thousands of comments about my appearance later, my page quickly became a breeding ground for comments about my mouth.

“People even make AI-generated songs about my mouth in the comment sections.
“Now, I can’t post without someone saying something.
“It’s taken a lot to get used to.”

Shannon splits her time between Philadelphia, the US and Italy, sharing content during her travels.
A recent clip has over 326,000 likes.
While wearing bright red lipstick, she takes viewers along to a restaurant and shows her meal.
But people are more interested in her mouth.
“Her French Kiss has a little bit of Spain and Belgium,” one person said.
Someone else added: “Can you eat subway sandwiches sideways?”

“She put the mile in a smile,” Ben said.
Another user added: “Can blow out next year’s birthday candles.”
“If you yawn while people speak is there an echo??” said Kris.

The influencer has embraced her look and refuses to let others’ comments get her down any longer.
She added: “Most of these are just internet trolls or people that are upset with their own lives.
“I try to remind myself that a lot of it is just a projection from others and I don’t need to let it define me.
“I simply don’t read the comments now.

“If I don’t see them, they can’t get to me.
“It’s definitely been a journey.
“When I stopped comparing myself to others, I realised that what makes me different is actually what makes me memorable.
“Smiling is part of who I am and I’m not going to hide that.”
