If you’ve ever wondered what 3D-printed, AI-designed shoes would look like…you’re in luck.

And perhaps unsurprisingly, they’re as futuristic-looking as the technology that created them.

The shoes, a brainchild of 25-year-old entrepreneur Ben Weiss, bear a striking resemblance to Crocs, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Mr Weiss’s startup company Syntilay used AI and 3D printing to produce the footwear.

They were created by Midjourney, an artificial intelligence programme created by a San Francisco–based independent research lab.

A human artist was then briefly involved in the process and hired to draw up the design before Vizcom AI 3D-printed the shoes.

Further details, such as the intricate patterns, were added using generative AI.

The creator of the AI-Crocs has now said he believes his unique creations are the future of footwear, as they can be brought to market significantly quicker than normal shoes.

Ben told CyberGuy: “AI designing shoes is going to disrupt the category because of the incredible speed to go to market.

“New releases for traditionally made shoes take around 18 months for a model to release, with AI making them and 3D printing, that is now only a few months.”

The futuristic shoes also come with the added bonus of being environmentally friendly and will do no harm to the planet as they are 100 percent recyclable.

Syntilay – a name that means ‘to sparkle’ – ensures that each purchaser gets the perfect fit by having them measure their feet with their smartphones.

However, they are far from being the cheapest footwear on the market, and if you’d like to step into the future, you’ll have to fork out $149.99 (£121) for a pair of shoes.

The shoes come in five colours – orange, red, beige, black and blue.
