A model has become the first woman with a skin condition to compete in the highly-regarded Miss Universe contest.

Logina Salah will be representing Egypt this year as she fights for the crown.

The 34-year-old has vitiligo, a chronic autoimmune disorder that causes the skin to lose colour in patches.

The beauty queen has not let this prevent her from fulfilling her dream of competing for the title of Miss Universe.

Through her participation, her home country, Egypt, hopes to make history.

Logina, who also is a mother, has gained traction as a skin positivity advocate, which allowed her to stand out amongst others competing for Miss Egypt.

She has 1.8M followers online and hopes to inspire others through sharing her journey.

Previously, Logina has said she felt driven to become a professional makeup artist because she felt ashamed of her skin condition.

Feeling tired of living what she has referred to as a ‘double life’, she decided to bare it all, sharing photos of her natural skin.

This not only led to her accepting herself but she also gained lots of support online.

Coming from a small town in Alexandria, in her 20s, the mum was busy raising her now-10-year-old daughter.

When she turned 31, she moved to Dubai to pursue her professional dreams.

Logina has already wowed her fans ahead of the competition, revealing that she will choose a traditional costume for the competition, as reported by What’s The Jam.

This year, more than 130 beautiful candidates will arrive in Mexico to fight for the Miss Universe crown.

The competition will take place on 17 November.

Miss Universe shared a post revealing Logina as Miss Egypt on 10 November.
