A driver has been caught screaming in horror after an elephant suddenly attacked their car on a main road.
The young mammal was strolling along the street on its own after apparently separating from its herd.
The motorist’s high beams are believed to have spooked the animal.

In the clip, the driver is seen approaching the elephant on the highway at night.
They slow down to get a better view of the large animal, but the previously placid elephant suddenly becomes aggressive.
It turns its head and charges at the car as the driver screams in horror.
The elephant whacked the side of the car with its trunk while the motorist stepped on the gas, as reported by What’s The Jam.
The scary encounter was filmed on the East-West Highway in northern Malaysia.

One local said: “Never put your beams on or sound the horn when encountering a large animal, especially an elephant.”
Another added: “I think the elephant was hungry and asking for help.”
Roy said: “Construction companies cut down the forests and the wild animals lose their habitat, blame the developers.”
