Cannabis plants have been spotted growing in council flower beds leaving locals shocked.

The marijuana was seen among flowers on the display next to a Co-op supermarket.

A cheeky resident is suspected of planting seeds.

The only other explanation is it was spread in bird poo.

The two plants were spotted in Anglesea Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight yesterday (15 Jul).

The flower beds are managed by Ryde Town Council but were planted by the charity, Haylands Farm.

Plant recognition technology identified them as Kush — a variant of cannabis which is a Class B drug.

Haylands Farm admitted it is the case and it is removing them.

A Haylands Farm spokesperson said: “We looked it up and it said it was Kush, a cannabis variety.

“It will be taken out and it certainly isn’t something we would grow here.

“It has probably been put in by a local or came from a bird poop.”

Ryde Town Council has been approached for comment.
