A restaurant has launched a dish with a very bizarre twist: a burger that tastes like children’s medicine.

The strange meal, served up at MonkeyFood, has left social media users scratching their heads.

It consists of two 45-day matured beef patties topped with bacon, smoked white cheddar cheese.

The ‘Burger Dalsi’ – as it’s been named – is finished with a bacon cheese sauce that contains “hints” of BBQ kikos (a form of corn kernel snack that is popular in Spain).

So far, so normal – but there is one more ingredient.

The burger is served with a syringe that injects a mixture that the brand has compared to Dalsy – a liquid ibuprofen children’s medication.

MonkeyFood doesn’t clarify how its chefs achieve the strange taste – or why they’ve chosen to replicate it.

But there is a limited amount – with just “10 units per shift”, as reported by What’s The Jam.

The unusual item was launched yesterday (22 May) and is priced at approximately £12.70 (€14.95), according to local press.

Images shared to Instagram shows the burger dripping with cheese, with a sign behind it that reads “special recipe” in Spanish.

The syringe sits firmly in the brioche bread with its liquid ready to be injected.

“I don’t know if I’m going to love it or hate it,” said one person.

Another foodie asked: “Was this burger necessary?”

Alberto added: “See y’all was cool at first but y’all going off some ways…..”

“How DISGUSTING,” said someone else.

Another person joked: “What doctor do we go to to get prescribed?”

Some fans were intrigued.

“Available at all locations??!,” asked Lucia.

“Looking forward to coming out to try it, monkey never disappoints!,” said Vlad.

The burger restaurant chain has four venues in Spain – three in Seville, a city popular with British expats and tourists, as well as one in Dos Hermanas.

Jam Press has contacted MonkeyFood for comment.
