Sir Rod Stewart’s classic Lamborghini recently fetched £550,000 at auction. The rare Countach LP400 Periscopio, cherished by the singer, was a standout in his car collection for over a quarter-century.
Now, it embarks on a new journey with its latest owner.
The iconic 183mph model, synonymous with the 80s, was initially acquired by Stewart in 1977 during an Australian tour.

It was shipped to his Los Angeles home, where he personalized it with new front and rear spoilers, a wide-body kit, and a revised roof with removable panels.
When Stewart moved back to England, the Lamborghini accompanied him until their parting in 2002, according to Luxury Auto News.
Originally a right-hand drive, the subsequent owner converted the car to left-hand drive. The vehicle boasts a 3.9-litre quad-cam V12 engine, featuring a twin-distributor ignition and six Weber carburettors.
The auction took place on 11 July on Bring a Trailer, with the Lamborghini changing hands for £550,000 in Los Angeles.
A spokesperson detailed, “This 1977 Lamborghini Countach LP400 is one of approximately 150 Periscopio examples produced in the first four years of the Countach model’s production.
It was bought new by best-selling British pop musician Sir Rod Stewart during a tour in Australia and later moved with him to Los Angeles.
There, it was modified with a wide-body kit and a targa-style roof panel before being relocated to the UK and remaining in Stewart’s collection until 2002.”
