A baby orangutan has been caught on camera in a series of adorable snaps where he uses his mum as a bed while lounging in the sun.
The incredible animal images were captured by professional photographer, Endra August, at Ragunan Zoo in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Shot from just metres away, he used an OM1 system camera to capture the intimate moment.
One image shows the baby nestled into its mother’s fur, cuddling into her, while in others, the mum snuggles into her child, protectively holding a hand over him.
Another snap shows the baby posing for the camera, looking into the lens, as the mother enjoys some well-earned rest.
“I felt happy to capture the shot,” the 52-year-old photographer from Jakarta, Indonesia, told Jam Press.
“They look like they are having fun.
“It’s a funny moment of an orangutan child when joking with his mother.”
For now, this baby will stay with its mother for the first eight years of its life, living with her until the little one is ready to fend for itself.
A young Bornean orangutan can grow up to 4.6 feet high and weigh up to 220 pounds, reports the World Wildlife Fund.
Sharing the images on Instagram, where Endra has amassed 11,500 followers, social media users are left in awe over the beautiful creature.
“Fantastic picture,” said one person.

“It’s amazing how intelligent and gentle these primates can be.
“I’m so grateful for being able to observe them in their natural habitat,” added another person.
