A luxury Mercedes Benz owned by a former Prime Minister is selling for £826,000.
This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing was owned by Lord Terence O’Neill before he became PM of Northern Ireland.
Despite the car being 70 years old, it has just 3,000 miles on the clock and is in great condition.

The Mercedes is fitted with a 3.0-litre M198 Inline-Six engine.
The slick Gullwing can reach a hair-raising top speed of 161mph.
The exterior of the car is finished in an eye-catching fire engine red paint and is fitted with chrome wheels.
The cream interior is offset with seats in a red plaid cloth.
This particular car, which is one of 1,400 Gullwings, was shipped to the Mercedes-Benz agent in London, England, on 26 July 1955.
The vehicle was owned by two UK-based drivers before being sent to the USA in the 1970s.
The Gullwing has remained in the states and is now in Newport Beach, Los Angeles, California, US.
The auction is currently set to end on Friday (27 Jun), as reported by What’s The Jam.
Bring A Trailer, which is hosting the sale, stated: “This W198 Gullwing was purchased by the selling dealer in 2025 and is now offered at no reserve with a copy of its factory data card.
“A Mercedes-Benz Classic certificate, invoices from work performed between 2017 and 2024, a set of Taris Charysyn fitted luggage, and a clean California title.
“This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL is one of 1,400 Gullwing coupes built during three years of production and was shipped to the Mercedes-Benz agent in London, England, on July 26, 1955, for delivery to the Right Honourable Lord Terence O’Neill.”
O’Neill was the fourth Prime Minister of Northern Ireland and leader of the Ulster Unionist Party from 1963 to 1969.
He was a moderate unionist who sought to reconcile sectarian divisions in Northern Ireland.
He served as a Member of Parliament for the Bannside constituency from 1946 until his resignation in January 1970.
