But one resident was stunned to spot a large reptile swimming through the area.
The croc was seen calmly paddling among the luxury boats last Thursday (17 Apr).
The animal caused a stir at Cancun Port in the Mexican resort city of the same name, as reported by What’s The Jam.
One local said, “Cancun Port was full of mangroves before they built it up; there is a huge lagoon right next to it.”
Another added: “Cancun’s beaches are no longer safe because the crocodiles that used to live on the lagoon side are now moving into the sea.”
Nia remarked: “It’s swimming style is so cute.”
Mayra said, “Why did I have to see this right before my trip to Cancun?”
Several types of crocodiles inhabit the surrounding water bodies and mangroves around Cancun’s hotel zone.
One of the most common species is the American crocodile, which grows up to 15 feet in length and is native to the region.
