A woman has gone viral sharing her experience with buccal fat removal — leaving her in excruciating pain and spending £719 ($900) a month on cheek fillers.
Earlier this year, Pammie Kyle Dandan went viral on YouTube after revealing her experience with cosmetic surgery, as she warned others against the procedure.
Over the years, she had spend £100,000, having more than 30 cosmetic procedures on her face and body, and has recently shared her story on her buccal fat removal.
Everyone has buccal fat — it is located between your cheekbones and jaw, essentially making up the shape of your face.
“I was in excruciating pain, and I felt a lot of tugging since the left side was difficult to remove,” Pammie told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
“It made me feel like I looked bigger than ever, and my body dysmorphia went out of control.”
Pammie was unaware of how much of a change it would make to her face and urges people not to go ahead with the procedure.
The 39-year-old author from Los Angeles added: “My right side shows very little now, but it took two years to heal without it not looking like I’ve pierced my cheeks.
“There were two holes in my face, and they were so obvious.
“I was swollen for around two months, and couldn’t go out without wearing a hat.”
Pammie spent $4,500 (£3,597) on the surgery, originally intending to only go for rounds of dimpleplasty, a surgery which helps the appearance of dimples.
After noticing her dimples still weren’t coming through, she decided to get buccal fat removal, thinking it would help, but instead, it made her face ‘droop’.
She now has to fork out $900 (£719), every month, for cheek fillers.
Pammie already struggled with body dysmorphia and found that the surgery made it even worse.
She said: “I was too focused on my appearance, I would re-do my makeup multiple times a day.
“I’d also change outfits all the time, and constantly washed.”
Pammie, who went through with the surgery in 2011 at the age of 27, shared her story on YouTube (@Pammiekyle), with the clip gathering over 6,900 views, tonnes of likes, and plenty of comments.
In the clip, she clenches her face to show the viewers her jaw shape.
She goes into detail about how once you have the surgery, you cannot get the fat back — once it’s gone, it’s gone.
She then begs her viewers to never get buccal fat removal.
One user said: “You inspire me to change my life for the better thank you.”
Nessa added: “Thank you for the info!”
Diana commented: “Girl I just had my surgery about one and a half months ago and it’s the worst thing that could have happened to me.”
Someone else wrote: “You’re so beautiful!”
“Why are you so worried about ageing, you look 25,” said another user.
“Once removed you cannot put it back,” Francesca added.
“Fat on the face is what makes you look younger, I never understood skinny people wanting to remove the fat from the faces, they just end up looking gaunt and old,” said Christine.
Since the buccal fat removal, Pammie has learned more about cosmetic procedures and keeps up with monthly cheek fillers.
