Balenciaga is selling a tote that looks remarkably like a basic plastic bag from your average supermarket or retail store for a whopping £775.
The product even includes crinkles to look well-worn, despite being brand new.
Whereas most supermarket bags are made from polyethene, this version is composed of polyamide and Dyneema.

Titled the Marché Packable Tote Bag Medium, it forms part of the brand’s Winter 2025 collection, as reported by What’s The Jam.

It has the company’s logo printed on the front and also includes two addresses for its Paris stores, plus website details.
Although Balenciaga was started in Spain, its headquarters are in the French city of love – but the blue bag is actually made in Italy.
It has two handles and an inner flat pocket that allows you to pack it “into a pouch”.

According to Balenciaga, the bag can be used to hold all your essentials, from your smartphone to a laptop that weighs a maximum of 10kg.

If you ordered it today, the Marché would arrive by 21 October – but it’ll set you back a handsome sum.
At least the shipping is free.

This isn’t the first time Balenciaga has presented shoppers with a bizarre product.

Last month, the brand was slammed for flogging “tatty” Puma trainers for 10 times as much.
The trendy fashion house collaborated with the sportswear giant to offer its own take on the Speedcat sneakers for £520.

The shoes had a “distressed” look with part of the Puma markings peeled off and a few fake, grubby bits on them.
Almost identical trainers were found being sold by Puma for just £55.
One angry shopper, called Chris, said: “You could have the Puma Speedcats for £55.
“Or the exact same shoe but ruined for 10 times the price.”
