He passed away aged just seven-years-old in 2020 from Batten Disease, a rare neurological disease.
Stepdad Simon had been a big part of his life.
The couple wanted to incorporate him into their special day in any way that they could.
So, alongside getting married in the church where Oscar is buried, the self employed artist chose a very special car to kickstart married life.
They drove off into the sunset in Lightning McQueen from the kids movie Cars as it was one of Oscar’s favourites.
“We wanted Oscar to be a huge part of our day, and to have him around us throughout,” Carrie, from Pantllyn, near Carmarthen, south Wales told What’s The Jam.
“Choosing a real life Lightning McQueen was just the perfect choice to do so.
“Lightning McQueen was one of Oscar’s favourite characters.
“He would watch it on repeat.
“When the disease started to take his eye sight from him, he amazingly still managed to get as much joy from Disney Cars through sound
“Oscar sadly passed away from a very rare neurological disease called Batten Disease.
“It has no cure or treatment.
“We also had his other favourite characters as our table names for our guests, including Olaf, Thomas The Tank Engine, Tow Mater etc.”
The couple also chose the church where Oscar is laid to rest to say their vows- paying homage to the youngster.
“Me and Simon got married on the 16th of May 2024.
“We got married in the church where Oscar is buried in Golden Grove and we had our reception in FairyHill, The Gower.”
Carrie shared a video to her TikTok(@art ,bycarrie) of her wedding car and social media users flocked to support her with the video receiving over 2 million views and over 114,000 likes.
She wrote on the video:
“From the moment we got engaged, there was only one wedding car for us..
“For you Osc.”
Carrie was surprised by the reaction online but says that it’s so special for her and her family.
She added: “The reaction to the post has been mind blowing.
“Two million views to somebody who gets an average of around 400-600 views is crazy.”
“We keep saying that there is only one person who is allowed to steal the limelight from our wedding day and that would be Oscar,
“And it’s so special to us that that video is the one that blew up.”
