A brewery has created a vegan beer – as homage to the fallen Sycamore Gap tree.
The 200-year-old, 50ft tree was chopped down three months ago.
It featured in the hit 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
First and Last Brewery have named the new bev Fallen Giant.
The Northumberland-based brewery will sell cases of 12 bottles of the beer for £38.
It will be sold in local stores and online.
Proceeds will be handed to replanting projects.
Its website says: “Soft and fruity Rye Pale Ale – a complex multigrain malt bill with Ekuanot & Amarillo hops.
“Aromas of pithy orange, papaya and marmalade with a dry, slightly spicy finish from the rye malt.
“Like many people we were shocked and saddened by the felling of the tree at Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall.
“We decided to channel our feelings into positive action.
“100% of the profits from this beer will be donated to the Woodland Trust to plant new trees.”
