An American living in the UK has been ‘slammed’ online for saying that Brits ‘complain too much’.
Russell Valentin, 31, who goes by @redbusruss on social media, regularly posts about his experiences adjusting to life in Britain, as reported by What’s The Jam.
In one video, captioned: “Brits, I need an explanation,” Russell said: “Have you ever noticed that Brits are dramatic? Like, comically dramatic?”

He then lists examples he’s spotted of Brits exaggerating and blowing things out of proportion.
The content creator, living in London, but from Chicago, US, said: “One cough can never be just a cough.
“Jesus Christ, I almost coughed up a lung!”
Another sign of British melodrama, according to Russell, is how people act when they’re tired.
He said: “That’s me finished, I’m absolutely done in.”
The clip has racked up 550,000 views and over 5,000 likes.
Fans were quick to share their own examples of British exaggeration.
One wrote: “If someone is coughing really bad, I always say, ‘if you’re gonna die, can you do it quietly please.’”
Another added: “I’ve got the plague – mild cough.”
A third commented: “For major inconveniences, I like to say ‘it is what it is’ but yes, we make small problems sound big and big problems sound small.”
Others were quick to ‘slam’ Russell for his thoughts.
One simply said: “Welcome to the UK haha.”
While Chrissy joked: “Amateur dramatic banter is in our genetics.”
Another added: “We’re over dramatic? But in the USA you go to the doctor for a small cold. we just get on with it because we ain’t getting anything!”
Luke said: “Coming from an American.”
