If you’ve managed to get your hands on the Wetherspoons Top Trumps game, you’re one of the lucky ones — the £9 charity card decks have been flying off pub counters since they launched. But what exactly is in it, which pubs made the cut, and — crucially — who wins?
Here’s everything you need to know about the 30 pubs featured in the official game, plus a breakdown of the stats that decide who comes out on top.
What are the stats on each card?
Each card covers one Wetherspoons pub and includes the following categories:
| Year opened | When the pub first opened (could be centuries ago for the converted buildings) |
| Size of pub | Square footage or capacity — the bigger boozers have an advantage here |
| Steps to the toilets | Classic Wetherspoons trivia — the toilets are famously inconvenient in many pubs |
| Amount raised for Young Lives vs Cancer | The charity behind the game — higher is better |
| Pub fact | A historic or quirky detail about the venue |
The known pubs in the game
Wetherspoons hasn’t published the full list — you’ll need to get the cards to see all 30. But here are the confirmed pubs that have appeared in coverage of the game:
| Pub | Location | Year | Seats | Steps to loos |
| Royal Victoria Pavilion | Ramsgate, Kent | 1904 | — | — |
| The Standing Order | Edinburgh | 1995 | — | — |
| The Velvet Coaster | Blackpool | — | — | — |
| The Prince of Wales | Cardiff | — | — | — |
| The Imperial | Exeter | 1916 | — | — |
Note: Wetherspoons has not published the full list of all 30 pubs. Stats marked — are not publicly available. If you have the cards, drop the full list in the comments below.
The unofficial version with 55 pubs
Can’t find the official game in your local? There’s also an unofficial version worth knowing about. Top Spoons, made by Bubblegum Stuff, features 55 Wetherspoons locations and is available online through Amazon, Firebox, and Bubblegum Stuff’s website.
The categories are a bit different to the official game — Top Spoons rates each pub on ambiance, price, cleanliness, architecture, and customer approval. It’s more of a pub quality ranking, which means some of the more notorious Spoons locations are in there deliberately (and not looking great).
Some of the pubs included in Top Spoons: The Potter’s Wheel in Swansea, The Packet Station in Falmouth, and The Punch Bowl in York.
How to get the official game
The official Wetherspoons Top Trumps is sold exclusively in Wetherspoons pubs for £9, with all proceeds going to Young Lives vs Cancer — the charity supporting children and young people with cancer. Stock levels vary by location, so it’s worth calling ahead.
Limited quantities are also listed on eBay, typically slightly above the original price. If you’re a keen collector, that might be the easier route.
