Aldi is bringing back one of its most talked-about steaks in time for Father’s Day, with the return of its giant 28oz Godfather Rump Steak.
The supermarket has unveiled a range of premium beef cuts landing in stores from 15 June, but it is the comeback of the hefty Godfather steak that is likely to grab the attention of shoppers.
Priced at £11.99, the 794g British rump steak is matured for 21 days and returns after previously building a loyal following among Aldi customers.
When the steak was featured on the popular Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook page during a previous release, shoppers were quick to share their enthusiasm, as reported by What’s The Jam.
One person wrote: “Omg I loved this last year. Might have 2 this year.”
Another person said: “Oooooo love too get me gums round that.”
Someone else said: “Allie babe that is so me we need to get them.”
The Godfather steak forms part of Aldi’s Father’s Day meat range, which also includes the launch of a new Flat Iron Man Steak.
The extra-large British beef cut is priced at £15.99 per kilogram and has been designed as a centrepiece for barbecues and family meals.
For shoppers looking to push the boat out, Aldi is also bringing back its Specially Selected Wagyu Bone-In Sirloin, priced at £34.99 per kilogram.
Known for its rich marbling and tenderness, the premium cut sits at the top end of the supermarket’s Father’s Day offering.
Also joining the line-up is a new Specially Selected Bourbon Beef Short Rib, priced at £11.99 per kilogram.
The slow-cooked ribs are coated in a bourbon barbecue sauce and are designed to deliver a smoky flavour for summer entertaining.
To complete the meal, shoppers can pair the steaks with Aldi’s Skin On Beef Dripping Chips, Specially Selected Chunky Oven Chips or Cavolo Nero side dishes.
The Father’s Day range lands in Aldi stores nationwide from 15 June, while stocks last.
