A woman has gone viral on TikTok after revealing the proper way to use a kitchen roll holder – and it looks like we’ve all been doing it wrong.
Chiara Paoleschi, 24, was stunned to discover an alternative to how the kitchen staple can be used, and quickly took to social media to share her find.
While many of us have the holder freestanding on a countertop and pull pieces of kitchen roll off, Chiara showed a far easier method.
Using the long piece of metal that holds the roll in, she turns the holder onto its side and fixes it into place on a shelf.
The holder is neatly handing down, with the pieces of roll easily accessible.
The popular post garnered 23 million views and over one million likes, with viewers equally stunned by the simple way the holder should be used.
“I found out while at my sister’s place and couldn’t believe it,” Chiara, who is originally from Italy but lives in Australia, told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
“I thought it was only meant to be standing.
“I had to share it!” TikTokers flooded the comments section after watching her tutorial, dubbing it “game-changing”.
One user said: “I’m running to my kitchen.”
“I am still blinking my eyes in disbelief,” said another person.
Someone else wrote: “Ran to my kitchen to try this.”
“Mind blown,” added another viewer.
Another person commented: “My life was a lie.”
“Am I breathing right at this point?” someone else wondered.
However, other users pointed out that the trick only works if you have a shelf or cabinet without doors.
One person said: “Nope but it’s a nice “hack” if you have open cupboards and if your roll of paper towel isn’t full.”
“No, but I guess if you don’t have doors on your cabinets,” another user commented.
Someone else added: “It’s not how it is supposed to work, but you found a nice way to use it for sure.”
“bUt thE DooR’ folks, this trick works for them. It’s super clever! Be inspired, not critical,” one person defended. [sic]
“Clever but not intended,” another user agreed.
