When 26-year-old designer Inês Egner from Lisbon, Portugal, went in for a routine baby scan, she expected to see her growing bundle of joy – not the unmistakable face of her dog staring back at her.
“I actually didn’t notice it at first,” laughed Inês.
“My best friend was with me and she pointed it out while we were looking through all the sonogram pictures. Then later, when I sent them to my family, my dad said the exact same thing! That’s when I thought, ‘Okay, maybe they’re right!’”

The dog in question is Goulash, a five-year-old German Shepherd mix rescue who Inês adopted when he was just seven months old.
A big-hearted, floppy-eared bundle of fur, Goulash is “the gentlest dog in the world,” according to his owner.
“He’s not exactly brave,” she adds with a laugh, “but he’s loyal, loving, and just wants a cuddle and a nap. He’s been by my side every single day since I started working from home.”
When Inês shared the ultrasound photo online, she thought only a few friends would see it.
“I posted it on my private Instagram first – people thought it was hilarious. So I figured, why not post it on TikTok too? I expected maybe 200 people to see it. I definitely didn’t expect over three million views!
”Reactions have ranged from disbelief to delight. “Mostly, people found it funny,” says Inês.
“Some said it looked like my dog was watching over the baby, which is such a sweet thought.”
Inês is due to welcome her first child in February 2026, and says pregnancy has been “kind, if not exactly glamorous.”
As for any special meaning behind the uncanny resemblance, she’s taking it in stride.
“I’m not a very spiritual person, so I think it’s just a coincidence – a funny one! But someone commented that Goulash ‘found a way to be remembered forever,’ and that made me tear up.” she stated.
nês added: “Dogs don’t live as long as we do, and knowing that his silly face made millions smile – that’s something special. It’s just another way he’s spread happiness.”
And as for Goulash himself?
“He’s already noticed all the new baby things,” Inês said.
“I think he assumes they’re his toys. But I’m sure he’ll be a wonderful big brother.”
