A determined seal proved the old saying “if at first you don’t succeed” after finally hauling itself onto a pontoon to join its mates following a string of hilarious failed attempts.
The plucky sea mammal was caught on camera desperately trying to clamber up beside three of its pals.
But despite strenuous efforts, it just couldn’t quite make it – slipping back into the water time and time again.

Under the watchful eyes of the other seals, it tried at least seven times before eventually shimmying its way along the length of the pontoon and mustering the strength for one final heave-ho.
This time, it worked, and the exhausted creature finally flopped onto the platform for a well-earned rest.
“The seal had a hard time,” witness Graham Collins told What’s The Jam.
“But got there in the end.
“It shows if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.
“There may be a lesson for us all there.”
Locals in Brixham, Devon, certainly saw the funny side.
One quipped: “Me in a swimming pool with no steps.”
Another said: “Oh bless – suppose it’s hard with only their small flippers but least he got there.”
While a third added: “Not his best efforts lol… but it worked.”
