A pub worker was left baffled when a family of ducks waddled in off the street – despite there being no water nearby.
Ellis Crosby was opening up the Sun Inn in Prescot when a duckling casually strolled through the front door.
Its mum and the rest of her brood then followed close behind.

The feathered family waddled past the bar before making themselves at home in the pub’s pool room, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Ellis tried to coax the ducks towards the rear exit because the front of the boozer faces a busy main road.
But the unexpected guests had other ideas and wandered back inside before eventually leaving through the same door they had entered.
The pub’s doors had been left open to create a breeze amid the recent hot weather.
Landlord Rod Crosby said there are no ponds or other bodies of water nearby – leaving staff mystified about where the feathered visitors had come from.
Rod, 51, a teacher who also runs the pub, said: “It was early afternoon and my son Ellis was on shift opening up the pub.
“With the weather being so hot recently, we had both the back and front doors open to let some air flow through.
“There are actually no bodies of water around us, so we have no idea where they came from.
“One of the babies just waddled through the front door, followed by mum and the rest.
“They waddled past the bar and into the pool room.
“Ellis tried to coax them out the back as it would have been safer than going back out the front, where there is a main road.
“They had none of it and came back in, eventually leaving the way they came.”
The bizarre visit happened early on a midweek afternoon, meaning there were no punters inside to witness it.
But footage of the ducks exploring the pub has since racked up more than 315,000 views online.
Social media users were left quacking up over the unexpected guests.
One person joked: “So a duck walked into a bar…”
Another said: “They heard there was pool in the back room.”
A third imagined the mother duck was simply looking for a break from her brood.
They wrote: “She’s had a hard day with the kids. She just wants a quiet one in the beer garden while they share some crisps. Don’t judge her.”
Rod said the reaction online had been a mixture of jokes and concerned comments from people checking the ducks were safe.
