A huge whale stunned freedivers after feasting on a shoal of fish they were swimming in.
The Bryde’s whale – which can grow up to 50ft long – was filmed by the divers moving among the thousands of baitfish, with its mouth gaping wide, just metres away.
The beast of the ocean appeared out of nowhere and continued on its way after taking a giant gulp.

The clip was filmed by Xabier Romero, a 28-year-old underwater photographer from La Ventana, Mexico.

It happened off Bahia Magdalena, Mexico.
“We were observing a bait ball of sardines that marlins and sea lions were hunting, when all of a sudden a massive group of skipjack tuna took over the scene,” Xabier said.
“What we didn’t know was that, following the tuna, a huge whale was approaching. The whale appeared out of nowhere, just a few metres next to us, to our shock and amazement.”
“It was impossible to hold in the silence,” he added.
“We came back to the boat crying and realised this was one of the most beautiful moments of our life.”
