A thrifty Brit has gone viral after cooking up a Waitrose dinner for just £1 – including dessert.
Elliot Jeory’s bargain potato meal has already racked up 264,000 views and 1,800 likes.
The dad-of-two went to the upscale supermarket to see to challenge himself into seeing what he could get for his super low budget.
Elliot purchased an onion for 12p, six potatoes for 48p, two carrots for 21p and even had enough left over for a humble dessert – a banana for 18p.
The 39-year-old says his simple trick is to always buys the vegetables separately, which allows for the low prices.
“Even though I couldn’t buy any meat, it is still a nice tasty meal,” Elliot, from Preston, Lancashire, told What’s The Jam.
“And I’ve even got a banana for dessert.
“So a two-course meal really.”
In the video, Elliot washes the potatoes before cutting them into small cubes.
He then boils them in a pan for seven minutes while chopping up the onion and carrots.
These are then fried for 10 minutes, with the potatoes drained and added.
The dish is cooked for another 15 minutes on a medium heat for the potato hash to turn a brown colour.
The total cost was 99p – leaving Elliot with 1p in change.
The super saver has more than 114,000 Instagram followers and fans have been quick to praise his frugal feast.
