A schoolgirl was left “looking like Eleven from Stranger Things” after she hacked off her hair while her parents were sound asleep.
Alison Dean said she was “speechless” when she realised what her six-year-old daughter had done.
Peggy had secretly cut her thick, shoulder-length hair down to the scalp using nail scissors while her mum and dad, Rob Moore, 29, slept.

Her 37-year-old mum admitted she burst into tears after dropping her off at school.
Describing it as a “nightmare”, Alison posted pictures of the incident on TikTok, where it went viral and garnered 334,000 views.
“Peggy had got up and gone downstairs for breakfast shortly before me,” Alison, from West Byfleet, Surrey, told What’s the Jam.
“I joined her downstairs and she was sitting with a blanket over her head, which wasn’t that unusual because it was very cold that morning.
“I made her breakfast and passed it to her.
“That’s when she took the blanket off her head to reveal very short hair.
“My first thought was ‘This isn’t real’ and shock.
“I felt terrible because I was so taken aback. She burst into tears.
“I instantly hugged her and asked her why she did it, but she said she didn’t know.
“I was quite speechless – racking my brains as to what to do before school.
“When I dropped her at school, she was really upset, and I explained to her teachers what happened.
“After she went into school, I burst into tears as I felt so bad for her.
“The teachers all reassured me that many little girls do this and all gave me a big hug.
“I have had so many people reach out to say their daughters did something similar or they did it themselves when they were younger.”
The night before the great hair cull, Peggy’s locks had been freshly washed and styled.
Marketing director Alison explained: “Her hair had been thick, below shoulder-length hair.
“She actually did a fairly neat job at the back.
“But the front, particularly the fringe, she cut super close to the root.
“She looked a bit like Eleven from Stranger Things.
“And from the back, she looked like Anne Hathaway in Les Misérables.
“She lost a tooth not long after and it added to the look.
“Peggy just seemed quite regretful.
“It was definitely an impulsive thought she acted on.”
TikTokkers were as stunned as Alison to see Peggy’s new self-given hairstyle.
One viewer commented: “I gasped.”
“Impulsive thoughts,” another wrote.
Someone else added: “I feel like it’s a canon event for girls. I cut myself a fringe when I was 4, I looked like Claudia Winkleman.”
“I’m surprised how evenly she cut her hair,” another follower said.
Another user wrote: “My daughter did this a few years back, was the straw that broke the camels back I cried like a baby for days.”
Determined to help her daughter feel confident again, Alison had to get creative.
She added: “I took to putting it in little pigtails, remembering how I did her hair as a toddler.
“I used a hair wax stick to tame all the little tufts in the right direction.
“On the day it happened, I put lots of fun clips to jazz it up.
“I took her to my hairdresser a few days later who helped neaten it up a bit but Peggy had cut so much off there was only so much she could do.
“I then had a brainwave and researched clip-in ponytails.
“As she’s only six, I needed something that wasn’t too heavy, more lightweight.
“I came across some clip-in messy buns.
“These created the perfect ‘space bun’ look.
“It really worked very effectively and she was so much happier and more confident with them in.”
