A chronic sleepwalking mother woke up in the kitchen to discover she was trying to boil Pepsi on the hob.
Wendy Mellor was left shocked when she regained consciousness and said: ‘It could have been so dangerous.”
Despite the 40-year-old sleepwalking all her life she has no idea what causes it.

During a kip Wendy made her way down to the kitchen and switched the oven on and lit the hob.
The assistant cook then got a wok out of the cupboard and put it on the hob before pouring a can of Pepsi in it.
At around 4am, Wendy woke up in the kitchen to the bizarre scene.
“I laugh about it now but looking back it could have been so dangerous,” Wendy, of Middlesborough told What’s The Jam.
“All I remember is walking in the kitchen and looking thinking what’s going on here.
“It was like I had woken up while I was doing it, which has never happened before.
“The hobs were on, the grill was on in the oven.
“I had poured a can of Pepsi Max in a wok and put it on the hob to boil.
“I just feel embarrassed because you do things you wouldn’t normally do like boil cans of Pepsi Max.
“I would love to know what I was trying to cook.”
It happened last Saturday (23 Aug), but she added: “I have been sleepwalking all of my life but there’s only been a couple of bizarre things that I have done.
“I was in Turkey with my family, I was sleepwalking during the night.
“I was banging on doors shouting for my mom.
“Then I ended up curling up in a glass lift and going to sleep.
“The next day we had a phone call saying I was drunk, but when I went down I explained I wasn’t drunk.
“I was sleepwalking and I couldn’t remember any of it.
“They showed me the CCTV.
“That holiday I wouldn’t even go for breakfast cause I was so embarrassed.”
