A ‘dumpster diving’ mum has shared her latest haul – a stash of brand new New Balance trainers.
Tiffany Butler, 34, ‘works’ full-time rooting through rubbish bins, where she finds everything from groceries to makeup and electrical goods.
The practice, which is legal in her state of Texas, US, is about as glamorous as it sounds – with Tiffany wearing gloves to rifle through large bins, rescuing thousands of items from landfill.
She previously estimated she made around $80,000 (£62,200) in two years of dumpster diving and then reselling her finds on.
Trying out a Location she’d previously had no luck with, the savvy mum was stunned to find a huge bag filled with the trainers – which retails around the £100+ mark.
“You never know when stores are going to toss stuff – it’s really just all about luck,” she told What’s The Jam.
Luck was certainly on her side last week, when the bin contained a bag of nine pairs of New Balances, as well as water bottles, T-shirts and socks from the brand – all brand new and with tags intact.
Tiffany, who searches the bins two-three times a week, shared the haul with her three million followers.
One viewer joked: “Worker was coming back for that.”
“I’m glad you’re salvaging these things. Why would they not donate!?” another user wondered.
Someone else commented: “Definitely a good score and bunch of it is not cheap.”
“Great find for back to school!!!” said another follower.
Another user added: “Jackpot!!!”
Tiffany, who has been diving for the past eight years, said she finds all manner of things on her hunts.
She added: “If you can name it, I’ve probably found it.”
